CIVIL DEFENSE REPORT

The past year has been very busy in the area of Emergency Preparedness.

The State has mandated a program that every city and town in the Commonwealth will develop and implement a program to handle potential haz-mat situations. There have been monthly meetings with other Central Massachusetts towns in order to formulate a plan to pool assets, response vehicles, and personnel in the event of an emergency.

The local basic format will include Fire, Ambulance, Police, Highway, Communications, Civil Defense, and Selectmen. Our goal is to get this program up and running in the next calendar year.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many people involved in town government as well as this Town's Emergency Personnel for their dedication in the areas of Emergency Response.

Respectfully Submitted.
