Council on Aging
Report for 1998
The Council on Aging meets at the Lyman Building on the second Tuesday each month at 3pm except in July and August.
Health clinics were held through Nashoba Nursing Services at the Legion Hall every third Thursday of each month from 11am to 1pm. Clinics include blood pressure readings, flu shots, cholesterol testing, and other problems you may want to talk to a nurse about.
Our members have attended meetings of the Montachusett Home Care Corporation and the Central Massachusetts Council on Aging to learn more about information to assist elders.
Flowers were planted in the watering trough on the Common in front of the Lyman Building.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays during the school year, Ashby Elementary School prepared meals at a cost of $1.25 for senior citizens and for Meals on Wheels for those unable to travel to the school. Meals on Wheels are delivered by volunteers.
We would like to thank the American Legion Post #361 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #10337 for their generosity in providing the use of their halls for senior citizens.
Our Chairman, Arthur Sawyer, died in May. He is missed very much. The new chairman is Edna Jamnback. We have two new members, Evelyn Connor and Debbie Michaud.
