ASHBY HISTORICAL COMMISSION
The Ashby Historical Commission met five times during the last year. The application for the nomination of Camp Middlesex to the National Register of Historic Places has been completed and sent to the Massachusetts Historical Commission for approval.
In order to facilitate a more complete inventory of old homes in Ashby, forms have been distributed among members of the Historical Society for completion. Each member has been asked to complete inventory forms on at least two houses.
The Historical Commission is now located upstairs in the old fire station. The members have agreed to repair old and broken windows, and we will be painting as soon as weather permits. We plan to purchase a used computer for records storage. Work on the inventory of old homes will continue throughout the coming year. We also plan to study how we can restore and preserve the old gravestones in the cemetery that is located behind the First Parish Church.
