The Town of Ashby through a BOS appointed Sustainable Economic Development Plan Committee and the Land Use Agent, will be working with the Montachusett Regional Planning Commission (MRPC) to develop this plan. The economic development plan focuses specifically on the economy including the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that relate to Ashby and its economic present and future. The economic development plan process seeks to assist Ashby to develop goals, objectives, and policies that are intended to execute a future vision for the community

An economic development plan with a sustainability foundation seeks to create and implement a vision for the future economy of the town of Ashby that is in harmony with social and natural systems and establishes a steady state in which to enjoy the fruits of the vision in perpetuity. This will position Ashby competitively in the future economy and establish a degree of community resilience that will make it easier to plan for prosperity.
